I work in the EMS field for a living. I am a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and I am also an Emergency Medical Response (EMR) specialist. I work with local fire departments around the state to educate and prepare people with the skills and knowledge to respond in an emergency.
What I mean by EMR is Emergency Medical Response, which is a term that refers to EMTs and paramedics who are trained to treat patients in the event of an emergency. People call them EMTs, paramedics, EMRs, and I just call them EMTs. The term EMR is what I use, but other people who work in emergency departments may call them EMRs.
I work for a professional organization that develops, trains, and teaches emergency responders. Our mission is to equip and educate people with the skills they need to respond in an emergency. I work at the state-wide state-based Fire and Disaster Management Association. In the past I’ve worked with police departments in Texas, Alabama, and Florida.
In my experience, EMRs are people who have the skills to be able to respond to an emergency but don’t have the training or the time to become EMRs. For instance, in Texas, I used to see a lot of EMRs who had no training whatsoever and were in training themselves.
It is my belief that EMRs should have time to become EMRs. I think we should have EMRs who would be able to respond to an emergency because we need those people in our communities to be able to respond to an emergency and we want them to be EMRs. I want EMRs to be able to respond to an emergency and have the skills to do so.
Another huge problem I see with EMRs is that there are many EMRs who have no training whatsoever and are in training themselves. I believe that EMRs should have time to become EMRs. I believe we should have EMRs who would be able to respond to an emergency because we need those people in our communities to be able to respond to an emergency and we want them to be EMRs.
I believe EMRs should be certified Emergency Medical Relief Workers (EMRWs) and not Emergency Medical Responsibilities (EMRs) because EMRs are too often just a glorified nurse. Like the EMRs we want, there should be a line that separates EMRs and EMRWs.
If EMRs were to be EMRWs, that would mean there would be an EMR and an EMRW, but with EMRWs there would be only one EMR and one EMRW.
I love the idea of EMRs because of the potential of providing care to people who are in remote locations with no access to medical care. But with EMRWs there would be two EMRs and two EMRWs, not one EMR and one EMRW. So yes, there would be an EMR and an EMRW, but not one EMR and one EMRW.
EMRs would be good, but EMRWs would be better. The EMR is a bit of a misnomer, in that it only works for people with a problem who would be willing to pay for an EMR. But the EMRW isn’t just any EMR. The EMRW is a way for you to get paid while you’re at your EMR.
