I love this book by amazon ashland. They offer a different take on the self-awareness concept which is what I am referring to. The book explains that our thoughts and actions are like three levels of consciousness. The first is our level of awareness that is the same as our brain. This level is more like a third person, like your brain in your head. The second is our level of awareness that is what our mind thinks of as our thoughts.

I’m sure that many of you have been in contact with a number of people who are very self-aware, but they are usually the type who think they are one thing, but really they are another. For example, they would be very self-aware about their body, but when you actually looked into them, you could see that they are very much the other that they say they are. I’m sure this can be easily seen in their behavior, too.

If you have such a self-aware person, then you can be certain that that person will not be thinking of your body in the context of their mind.

For most of us, though, we are more or less unaware of the world we live in. When we are aware of the world we live in, we usually get stuck in a loop of thinking that the things we do are “good.” The good thing we do may not be what you would call “good” (because we aren’t aware of the very concept of good).

The whole concept of good and bad is not very logical. In fact, the concept of positive and negative is illogical. We might say that some things are good or bad, but we shouldnt be bothered by that. If we are constantly thinking that our actions are good, we will have to face life’s many unpleasantries, and we will ultimately be in a constant state of self-consciousness.

Ive written before on this site about how many of us have stopped being aware of our actions and are instead focused on our reactions to actions. For instance, if I throw a rock and it misses my car, I do not have to worry about it. If I have a headache, it is not my fault for not being aware of the concept of a headache. This is a good example of how the concept of good and bad are illogical.
